WEEK 1 

FRIDAY, 24/3/2023


ACTIVITIES

On Friday of the first week of learning, there is no face-to-face class at the farm. Lecturers hold online classes using Google Classroom. The lecturer named Ts Muhamad Zahid bin Muhammad has explained in general the activities that will be done on the farm from the beginning of the semester until the end of the semester. The students listen carefully and understand everything shared by the lecturer.


CHALLENGES

There were no challenges while attending the online class, everything went smoothly until the end of the class.

COASTING

No coast is charged for this class because i use my own mobile phones and free internet provided to all UiTM Jasin students.

REFLECTION

After listening to the explanation from the lecturer, I have learned that farm management costs are not as easy as expected. Therefore I must be mentally and physically ready to learn this coast.




WEEK 2

FRIDAY, 31/3/2023


ACTIVITIES

In the second week, classes were held at the farm.All students are required to gather at the car park near the lecture block before going to the farm before 650 am. 

At 7 am, a roll call was held and a briefing and familiarization session with the farm seniors, better known as PE. They are assigned to take care of each class for the farm session. Students have also done morning exercise for physical fitness while doing farm work.

At 8 o'clock in the morning, all students, part 1 and part 2, moved to the agrotech plantation site to sing my country's song, wawasan setia warga UiTM and the planters song. After finishing, the farm lecturer gave a brief briefing to the students.

At 830 am, all students move into their respective plot areas to see the crop areas that will be used during the farm activities.

 


CHALLENGES

When going to the farm for the first time, PE explained that all students had to go to the farm every day to complete tasks and land clearing. That is a challenge for all students because it is the month of Ramadan where all Muslims are required to fast and the weather is quite hot.1

COASTING

For this week, it does required a bit coast about RM 30 to buy boots, farm hats and glove for use in farm activities.





REFLECTION

I have learned that farm students are required to follow the four farm principles, namely, punctuality, discipline, unity and respect. Farm PE emphasizes the principle of unity where all students must strengthen their relationship with each other and help each other while on the farm.






WEEK 3

FRIDAY, 7/2/2023



ACTIVITIES

In the third week, the students cleared the crop plot of weeds using hoes. The students were instructed to clean the plant plot every day from 7 am until 9 am if the class started at 10 am. In the evening, if the students don't have class from 4 to 6, we are obliged to go to the farm to continue the land clearing at 4:40 pm until 6:30 pm The students have been hard at work hoeing weeds so that the plant plot is clean.

As usual, on Friday morning students have to go to the car park in the lecture block for the morning roll call. Then do morning exercise.

This week also the students have completed line clearing in the plant plot. All students feel tired when they have to do farm work during this fasting month in addition to summer.


 




CHALLENGES

We have been hoeing long grass every day leaving the body feeling numb and thirsty after doing the work. But all this is a guess for us to achieve success.

COASTING

We were informed to pay RM 40 per person for the cost of seeds, workers' wages to water the plants while we were returning home on leave and so on. For the equipment, the cost is rm0 because it has been prepared at the equipment store.




     

REFLECTION

Students have learned how to hoe the grass in the traditional way but nowadays all use lawn machine technology. We can also strengthen mentally and physically while doing farm work.






WEEK 4

14/4/2023, FRIDAY



ACTIVITIES

This week all students gather as usual for roll call before 640 am. All students attend on time and practice punctuality principles. The morning roll call started as usual and the morning exercise was held. After end of the roll call, the students have to go to the agrotech plantation site to sing my national song, the wawasan setia warga UiTM  and the planters song. All the students sang the song with enthusiasm. After that, the council held a recitation of surah Al-Kahfi, the first 10 verses and the last 10 verses. After finishing we wait for the lecturer to give a briefing.
 
At 8 o'clock in the morning the lecturer explained about making borders for plants. We jot down the important things in a notebook.

At 9 am, all the students along with the lecturer went to our plot to see the progress. The soil compactor tractor has compacted the soil making the process of raising the boundary easier. Some of the students measured the borders for the plants and half of the students started planting the seeds into the nursery pots.

At 12 pm the farm session was over, all the students lined up and went to the equipment store to store the equipment. The weather was very hot that day which made all the students feel tired and thirsty

7/7/2023, FRIDAY ACTIVITIES This week is the last week for the farm session and students must do the activities Harvesting and Post-Harvest Care, Final Harvesting Harvest long beans when they are ripe, Monitor the growth of the second crop, use appropriate fertilizers, and harvest the beans when they are ripe. After harvesting all the produce, we weigh and tie the long beans and sell them to buyers. On Friday, the farm activity is land clearing where we have to break the boundary so that it is flat as usual. Before that, we removed the okra trees that were in the border because most of the okra had been damaged by pests and diseases as a result of not applying insecticides. We had to throw it away because it couldn't be saved anymore. Also on Sunday, we have to go down to the farm to do land clearing for the last time. WEEK 12

 23/6/2023, FRIDAY ACTIVITIES In the 12th week, many kale and long bean crops have yielded. Therefore, the plant must be harvested before it is old and pasted. The harvested plants have been separated, weighed according to type and put in plastic. The vegetable type plants have received a lot of response from uitm staff and lecturers. When it is ready to be weighed and packed, the students sell it to the person who ordered the vegetable. The price of two bunches of long beans is rm 4 and 1 kg of long beans is rm 7, the same as kale. The vegetables have been sold out and the rest of the crops have not yet yielded. Class D okra trees have not yet produced fruit and are not yet ready to be harvested. We also cleared the weed-filled plant borders during the week. CHALLENGES The challenge faced is that the demand for vegetables is high but the yield is only small, so the students cannot take the vegetables home because they have been ordered by the staff.
